The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." You see, God's standard is perfection, and no one can attain perfection on their own. We all miss that mark, and the reality is, it doesn't matter if you miss by a few inches or a few miles, you still come up short.
Thus, sin has separated us from God with no hope of reconciliation by our own efforts. Gut God provided a way for man to be reconciled to God through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ. Paul tells us that God "...desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus." I Timothy 2:4-5.
Many people today would have you believe that all roads lead to God, that there are many ways to reach God, but they do not speak the truth. There are not many ways to God, but only one way. Jesus made this point clear when He said '...I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6. It is only through Christ that we can come to the Father, and not on our own good merits or sacrifices.
And so as Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary for our sins, and rose on the third day from the grave, He paid in full the penalty for our sins. As Paul said "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive." I Corinthians 15:22.
We all are born from Adam, and because for that we have inherited the sin nature, we are sinners. Because we are sinners, the penalty is death. But because of the work of Christ applied into our life, He has taken the sting out of death and given us true life!
What do you need to do to receive Jesus Christ into you life and be forgiven of your sins?
1. ADMIT THAT YOU ARE A SINNER.
2. REPENT AND TURN FROM YOUR SIN.
3. BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOU ON THE CROSS OF CALVARY.
4. RECEIVE THROUGH PRAYER, JESUS CHRIST INTO YOU HEART AND LIFE.
Your prayer may go something like this:
"Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I come to you asking you to forgive me my sins and to be Lord in my life. I believe by faith that you have forgiven my sins and that you are Lord of my life. Thank you Lord for your love and forgiveness. Thank you for saving me. Amen."
