THE LAST SUPPER

PART 1

MARK 14:12-21

1. Why did Jesus have to teach His disciples a lesson on weakness? See Matthew 26:31-35.

Because, no matter how strong we may think we are, we are weak. Thus, we need to lean upon Jesus, let Him strengthen us and not rest in our own strength. You see, the first step in being strong is recognizing you are weak, and thus, you need to live by the power of God, by His Spirit.

2. In Isaiah 53:6, who are the two parties spoken of and what does this mean to you?

We are the sheep, lost in sin, and Jesus is the one who has bore our sins, all of them. You see, Christ paid in full the penalty for our sins, all of them. All we must do is receive that free gift of life into our lives.

3. In I Corinthians 5:7, Paul speaks of Jesus as being our Passover. What does that mean?

The first Passover, in Egypt, the Jews were to place the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of their homes so the angel of death would pass over them. We are to apply the blood of the Lamb into our lives, Jesus, so the angel of death will Passover us. We are set free from sin in Christ and will not be separated from Him!

4. Read I Peter 2:21-25. What examples did Christ give to us to follow?

That we are not to revile or abuse others verbally, for Christ did not do that. When people came against Him, He didn’t threaten them or fight back, but left that to the Father to judge them. Christ paid the penalty for our sins, and thus, we should live lives that are pleasing to Him. We were walking aimlessly through this life until the Great Shepherd brought us into His sheepfold and He will watch over us and protect us.
