THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT!

MARK 12:28-40

1. In I John 4:19-20, what is John calling for us to do?

We are to love others, not because they treat us nicely, but because God desires that from us. You see, God loved us when we were filthy sinners, and thus, we should extend that same love to others. This is not a suggestion, it is a command from God!

2. Who is Jeremiah speaking of in Jeremiah 30:9?

David had been dead for a long time, so he is speaking of a descendent of David, the Messiah, Jesus Christ!

3. Did the religious leaders know where the Messiah was to be born? See Matthew 2:4-6.

Yes, for they told Herod exactly the place the Messiah was to be born, they even quoted from Micah 5:2, their Scriptures!

4. Then why didn’t they believe that Jesus was the Messiah?

Because it is one thing to know it, and it is another thing to believe it. They just didn’t believe, maybe because it went against their preconceived ideas of what and who the Messiah was to be, and they refused to hear what God was saying to them from the Scriptures! Many do the same thing today. Be careful!
