THE TRIUMPHAL ENTRY

MARK 11:1-11

1. What does Peter mean in II Peter 1:19-21?

First of all, prophecy is more sure than what Peter has seen with his eyes, even on the Mount of Transfiguration. Secondly, prophecy is not something man came up with, but it comes from the heart of God. And thirdly, it is not for us to come up with all kinds of meanings to God’s Word, but He has a specific meaning and we need to be sensitive to what He is saying.

2. In the last days will people be interested in the Word of God? See II Timothy 4:3-4.

No, God’s Word convicts, and they want to be tickled, to feel good about living in sin. They are more interested in satisfying self than obeying God so they will search for people who will tell them what they like to hear instead of what God is saying.

3. According to Titus 2:11-13, why is it so important for us to look for the return of Christ?

Because it keeps us pure, knowing He can return at any moment. We don’t want to be doing something evil or wrong when He returns, but we want to be about the Lord’s work!

4. Is it important that we study prophesy? See Luke 19:41-44.

Yes it is. The Jews did not recognize what day it was, that their Messiah was before them, and they were held accountable for their failure to recognize this day. God has given us His Word to comfort us, and as you study the Scriptures and see the things happening in the world, you are comforted in knowing He is in control and He is coming back to right the wrong that is in this world. Can you imagine living today and not having God’s Word to comfort our hearts and lives, it would be horrible. But God’s Word is for us to read and apply, and we must recognize that we are living in the last days, the days the prophets spoke of.
