MARK 2:13-22

1. According to Matthew 18:11, why did Jesus come?

Jesus came to save those who are lost. That is all of us. We are all lost in our sins, separated from God by our sins. But Jesus came to bring us back to God, to find us!

2. According to John 16:8-9, what will cause us to be separated from God, sent to Hell?

Not believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. You see, if you don’t, none of your sins will be forgiven you and if you do come to Christ, all your sins will be cast away as far as the east is from the west.

3. According to Mark 2:17, who are the people that Jesus can’t help?

Those that don’t see themselves as sick, they don’t need a physician. They see themselves as good, as healthy, when the reality is there is none who are good, all fall short of the glory of God. You have to realize you are sick, a sinner, before you will come to Jesus, the Great Physician and ask for forgiveness!

MARK 2:13-22

4. Read Psalm 51:3-4, 10-13. What has taken place in David’s life and what was the consequences of that?

Psalm 51 speaks of David’s sin with Bathsheba and the killing of her husband to hide his sin. The point that is being made is that his sin broke his fellowship with God. Sin destroys our joy in the Lord. And after a whole year of a dry and barren life, David repents of his sin and he asks God to restore that joy he once had. Sin always destroys our witnessing of God to others, it robs us of the joy we have in the Lord. And David recognized that once he got right with God that joy would return and he would be able to share his faith with others, and others would get saved.

5. Read I John 1:1-4. What is the fullness of joy that John is speaking of based upon?

The fellowship we have with God will bring to us a fullness of joy. And out of that relationship with God we will have a fellowship with the brethren in Christ, where there is great joy. The joy of the Lord is found in being close proximity to Christ. Thus, if you have lost that joy, check and see how your walk with the Lord is going!
